What Ronaldo Said About Messi After Juventus Transfer
Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines all over the world this past week by announcing that he was signing with Italian giants Juventus.
The deal came as a shock to many, as Ronaldo spent nine very successful years at Real Madrid and broke records one could never have imagined.
Speaking at his unveiling, Ronaldo was asked about his rivalry with Messi and the Portuguese hero gave an interesting response.
“My rivalry with Messi? I don’t see players as rivals. We all want to give our best, try to win everything and be the best. We’ll see what happens.”
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s former United teammate Ryan Giggs believes Messi obsession led to Ronaldo’s Juventus move.
Giggs revealed to ITV his reading of the whole situation: “I’m surprised that he would leave Real Madrid and go to Italy. He’s obsessed with being better than Messi. He has that now, that, ‘I did it in England, I did it in Spain, I’m going to do it in Italy … I did it with Portugal.'”
Giggs’ comments do have some logic to them. Many still consider Lionel Messi the greatest of all time, despite Ronaldo’s numerous achievements throughout his career.
But one thing that practically everyone agrees with is Cristiano’s ability to perform and win trophies everywhere he goes.
With major triumphs at Manchester United and Real Madrid already under his belt, a new adventure with Juventus may well seal the deal, and ensure that his legacy sees him rated ahead of his Barcelona counterpart at the end of it all.
That, of course, depends on how things actually end up panning out at his new club. Till then, we will just have to wait and watch.
