JUVENTUS have issued a statement confirming they are “evaluating several opportunities” amid speculation linking them with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo
Juventus are understood to have approached Real Madrid with a £88million offer for Ronaldo, who wants to leave the Bernabeu.
Talks between Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes and Real are ongoing but an agreement for the 33-year-old’s departure has not been reached.
However, Juventus are required by the National Commission for Companies and the Stock Exchange (CONSOB) to provide details of their transfer activity. And amid speculation of Ronaldo’s impending transfer, Juventus have issued a statement reminding everyone of the club’s stance when it comes to such matters in co-operating with CONSOB.The Serie A champions issued a statement on their official website.
It said: ”After the request from CONSOB related to the news published recently on media outlets, Juventus Football Club S.p.A is keen to remind that during the transfer season the club is evaluating several opportunities and will publish adequate information as prescribed by the law.”
It is unclear if the request made from CONSOB has any relation to the stories surrounding Ronaldo.
Speaking yesterday, Mendes appeared to pave the way for Ronaldo’s exit by saying his departure would be “a new chapter and a new challenge”.He told Portuguese newspaper Record: “If it happens, it will be a new chapter and a new challenge in his brilliant career.
“If Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid, he will remain eternally grateful to the club, the president, all the staff without exception, as well as the Madrid fans throughout the world.”
Juventus have finalised one deal today which is the exit of Gianluigi Buffon to Paris Saint Germain.
