The biggest game of the club calendar kicks off in Cardiff on Saturday evening, with La Liga champions Real Madrid vying to become the first team in history to retain the Champions League, but also with the magnificent Serie A champions Juventus looking to stop them doing so.
Juventus have undoubtedly had the easier run in for this crucial match, wrapping up the Serie A title a while ago and therefore being afforded the chance to rest many of their big game players. By contrast, Real Madrid were taken to the last couple of weeks of the La Liga title, but edging the title off Barcelona will be a huge confidence boost for Zinedine Zidane’s players.
Despite resting a massively weakened side on the final day of the Serie A season, Juventus still beat Bologna 2-1 away from home to make it four wins from their last five outings in all competitions. Their Champions League record this season is pretty special too, with nine wins and three draws from their 12 games. Even more impressive is the fact they have conceded just three goals in the competition this season, including two clean sheets against Barcelona.
However, they are facing a blistering attack on Saturday, with Real Madrid being the highest scorers in the competition. They have scored 32 times in just 12 games, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring ten of these goals, to make him the highest scoring player in Champions League history. The bad omens don’t stop there for the Turin giants either, as Ronaldo has scored five goals in his last four games against Juventus.
