Una canzone per la vecchia signora (A song for the Old Lady).

A reworking of a Parkhead classic from the mid-90s, in anticipation of Celtic’s 2013 quarter-final Champions League tie against Juventus (“The Old Lady”). In turn based on the 1952 song “That’s Amore” by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Jack Brooks which became a major hit and signature song for Dean Martin in 1953.

Some alternative lyrics to substitute if required:

#When our team takes a shot and it’s not Tony Watt it’s Wanyama,
When we find a way through and it’s not Charles Mulgrew, it’s Wanyama
When we close Ju-ve down and it’s not Captain Brown, it’s Wanyama,
When we shut up the shop and it’s not Fraser’s block it’s Wanyama,

Bells’ll ring, Ting-a-ling-a-ling ,Ting-a-ling-a-ling
All sing “We’ll Beat-a-Juve”
Celtic play, Ticci-tac away, Ticci-tac away
All say, “Ciao Bar-ce-lona”

When we pass on the grass and it’s not Samaras it’s Wanyama,
When the football’s deadly and it’s not Joe Led-ley, it’s Wanyama
When our team plays the best and it’s not James For-rest, it’s Wanyama
When we score goals for fun and it’s not Kris Commons, it’s Wanyama

Repeat Chorus

When our team plays with style and it’s not B Kayal, it’s Wanyama,
When the win is hard fought, and it’s not P McCourt, it’s Wanyama
When we find extra men ‘cos we’re down to a ten, it’s Wanyama
When show lots of guile, we make Neil Lennon smile, it’s Wanyama,

Repeat Chorus

When the team seems to shine, like you’ve had too much wine, it’s Wanyama
When we dance down the pitch, with the ball we bewitch, it’s Wanyama
When we walk in a dream, but we know we’re not dreamin’, signora
‘Scusami, but you see, Back in old To-rino, it’s Wanyama

Repeat Chorus
