Gonzalo Higuain could play a surprising role in Maurizio Sarri’s planned move to Juventus.Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the Turin side are willing to waive €9million (£8m) of the loan fee that Chelsea still owe them for his move last season. That would mean that Juventus have to pay no compensation to appoint their new manager — and they are expected to announce his arrival early next week. There have been meetings in recent days between Roman Abramovich and Sarri’s representatives as they look to come to an agreement to end his contract early. And as a result, they could use the money that is still due from Chelsea for the six-month temporary switch.Chelsea could have signed Higuain for €36m (£32m) this summer as part of the agreement. But they have no intention of making the deal permanent or extending his loan as Higuain was signed at Sarri’s request. The 31-year-old scored five goals in 14 Premier League games for Chelsea and helped them finish in the top four.
