Great show. I enjoy watching you guys. Please keep that idiot, bigot, racist Antonio off the show because he talks stupid all the time! Ciao guys.

The error on the name of a player during a presentation is just a testament of the state of the team right now

Kevin Oblocki says:

As a Real Madrid supporter I'm thankful for all he has done for the club and respect his wishes to leave. As a Series A neutral follower, I'm excited this will put the spotlight on the league but am hoping we somehow see a new Scudetto winner

Tapiwa Muza says:

Great coverage guys! U managed to separate the facts from fiction. As a Madridista all we can say is thank you to Cristiano for his service, we will forever be grateful for the wonderful 9 years he gave us. Hopefully Juventus take care of our boy. #GraciasCristiano #GraciasCampeón

Paul says:

I’m a bit older than you guys but I’ll share this….my first recollection of World Cup soccer was when I was 5 and the streets of Toronto were bursting at the seams after Italy won the World Cup in 1982. From the on the seed was planted of what a special time the World Cup season is. I didn’t really start to watch soccer until Italia 90 when it was reported that the Italian squad was dubbed The dream team. I watched how Italy lost to Argentina in the semi’s to penalty kicks, myself and the Toronto Italian community were crushed. As the 90’s went on, Seria A was force to be reckoned with in soccer. Within conversations amongst friends and adults whenever Italy or Italian soccer was mentioned there was either a sense of jealousy or instant respect given. The economy was flourishing in Italy as with all levels of industry, military, sport, fashion, agriculture. Made in Italy brand was like buying a stock that never lost its value. In 1994 Roberto Baggio was our saviour who commanded the field and beautifully orchestrated plays throughout the tournament. I was in a cafe watching Baggio take the penalty when he missed, I believed there must’ve been a mistake and he would be asked to take it again. All of the jealous people that disliked the Azzurri relished in that missed penalty and summed up our efforts during that tournament on that one mistake.

But the Azzurri still had their bumps along the road, I watched in The euro 96 the Azzurri not being successful in the group stages, losing one and tying two. Gianfranco Zola missing a penalty to Germany, a win that would’ve put them into the knockout round, Germany would end up winning the tournament and the Azzurri never really looked like they built up the momentum to reach their full potential. Zola would never play in the Azzurri again, a big mistake not to include him.

The talk amongst pundits and reporters was that the Azzurri were too defensive and needed to score more. Caesare Maldivian took over and it was believed that players like Del Piero and Vieri would be allowed to flourish in a more attack minded style of play, this was not the case. Italy still struggled to score goals and were bounced out in penalty kicks during the 1998 World Cup to France. It should be noted that Roberto Baggio who in my opinion was in his prime but was only used sparingly during that tournament. It wasn’t until he went on against France that chances were created. Del Piero was not a force to be reckoned with on the Azzurri team, with Juventus he was a superstar. Juventus and AC Milan are powerhouses in CL

Still Serie A the strongest league in the World. Parma, Lazio, Roma, Inter, Milan and Juventus were powerhouses in international play. The best players in the world wanted to come to Italy and play. I watched one of my favourite Azzurri coaches Dino Zoff lead a team to the finals on Euro 2000, along with a young up in comer Francesco Totti who had a breakthrough Tournament. Gigi Buffon was injured that tournament and Francesco Toldo was a monster in net. I finally witnessed Italy win in penalty kicks against Netherlands, Totti with his cucchiaio penalty which showed off his absolute confidence on the pitch. Zoff unfortunately stepped down after receiving criticism from the FIGC and media on how he handled the final against France.

In 2002 Italy had another superstar team but were again struggling to find the net. Vieri, Totti, Del Piero all showed great promise but I never felt there was any chemistry on that team. Heartbreaking loss to South Korea that was riddled with corruption in the refereeing of the game. Where was Cassano? Bad attitude left his off the team.

2004, another great team was fielded but again it lacked chemistry to find the ball in the net. This time Cassano on the field who flourished. Azzurri bounced I;the group stages. Juve and AC Milan in the finals of the CL, another proud moment for Serie A.

2006 and calciopoli was destroying the reputation of Serie A, the economy in Italy was failing and corruption was everywhere. While Italy was playing in the WC there was a mess back home that someone had to clean up. I remember reading someone on the Azzurri team say something along the lines of “We did not want to lose and go home to the mess that Calciopoli had created so we kept winning to return home as Champions. Gattuso played with such grit as if he was playing for his life. Pirlo played as if he was giving his blood on the field, Cannavaro played as if he was responsible for the teams success or failure and Buffon was himself, modest, humble and full of passion to win. There was no ego’s on the field as I had watched since 1990, Baggio vs. Vialli, Baggio vs. Signori, Baggio vs Del Piero, Del Piero vs Totti. I must mention that it was never Baggio who had the ego.

The 2006 team played the most beautiful soccer I had witnessed from an Azzurri squad. I would purposely miss watching games, in fact I only watched a small handful because every time I invested time into watching Italy play in a tournament I was disappointed. I did not watch Italy vs Germany and arrived at my parents home thinking the game had just ended and I would hear about the result from my father. I was early to arrive and found my father In the basement watching alone, standing up with 10 minutes to go. He babble in broken English how good Buffon, Cannavaro and Pirlo were playing, I had never seen him this excited before. He told me in 1982 he would watch the games alone in the basement and that year Italy won, he said “Stay down here, watch it here, Italy is going to win!” I thought “what that hell, it’ll probably go into penalty shots and they would lose”. Then the Gross goal! I couldn’t believe it, Italy is supposed to play defensive soccer and keep the game at 0-0, go into extra time and hope for the best In penalties. My dad was losing his mind, my mom had to tell him to keep his voice down because neighbours will think there was an argument. I wanted to believe Italy was going to the finals but I was still afraid to buy into that belief. Then Cannavaro intercepts a pass and pushed the ball up to the Italy midfield, he looked like a sprinter making the final push to the finish line, the pass to Totti who cool and confident as he was when he took that penalty in 2000 makes a beautiful pass to Gilardino, then Del Piero with his freshly buzzed hair courtesy of Oddo, receives a pass and directs a shot into the net with the style and grace that you would expect from Alex. Del Piero who was absent in 1998, messed up in the finals of 2000, found no chemistry on a team in 2002, was now playing as if this was his club team. My dad and I were jumping up and down crying and screaming. I couldn’t tell you how happy of a moment that was, one that I will always have. I watch the highlights of that game every few months. That game was the finals for me, there were already champions in my heart.

Sure they went on to win the finals, Matterazzi, the “thug” from Inter who showed how much heart he had in that game. Being fingered by the ref to have committed a foul that resulted in a penalty. I felt the same feeling that maybe it was not meant to be, only to have Matterazzi score on a header from a corner kick. I watched as the tall figure of a man pointed to the sky as his teammates tried grabbing hold of him, he was dedicating the goal to his deceased mother. This game again went to penalties, I was all too familiar with Italy losing in this fashion, but not this time. This team wanted to win so badly so they could show the world that Italian soccer was not about corruption. Winning the cup that year was one of the best summers in my life.

Sorry for the long winded message. Forza Azzurri.

It’s gonna take so long to get used to Ronaldo in the bianconeri

Marco Buglione says:

Cavani can’t comeback as soon as they leave it’s over, also we already have milik and mertens but I think Karim would be a great addition because I always saw mertens as a winger

Toyo Taz says:

I'll NEVER forget that magical 2006 World Cup winning Italy team! I wasn't a fan at the time, but my oldest cousin was a die-hard Italy and Juve fan and was the one who first exposed me to Italian football. Every world cup our family got together and watched it. I'm a big Argentina fan but they got knocked out so I supported France because of Zinedine Zidane. But during that final against Italy, Zidane did the unthinkable — he lost his composure due to some comments Materazzi made. But that did not take away from Cannavaro, Pirlo, Del Piero, Totti, Buffon and Italy's performance. Now that was a once in a lifetime team.

Sebastian says:

I wasn’t into football back then either, but as a 9 year old I remember having this immense pride for my heritage, so much so that I even went out and got a Totti jersey not knowing much about him, just that he was the best and I wanted to be like him. I was in a restaurant/bar on the Amalfi Coast during the semi-final and when they beat Germany, there were fireworks shooting off by the water. There even was this alleyway that opened up into a pavilion with folding chairs to watch the games. Looking down from above was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. We were all cheering and the owner came out and gave everyone free limoncello. A few days later during the Final, we were in the airplane on the way home when they announced that Italy just won on penalties. The whole plane erupted with jubilee. One of the coolest moments of my life.

Toyo Taz says:

I wish we kept Buffon. We all knew he was only getting older but it's just hard to let someone like him go. Imagine if we do sign CR7, we had a chance to have 2 of the games greatest players to ever grace the pitch and off!
